CICIAMS a été en existence depuis 1933, quand , après une assemblée à Bâle, en Suisse, 1928 plusieurs associations Catholiques d'infirmière se sont réunies à Lourdes, à la France et les membres décidés pour créer une organisation professionnelle internationale pour les infirmières Catholiques. Le nom CICIAMS est un anacronym constitué de la lettre intial de chaque mot de la description Française de l'organisation : Comite international Catholique des Infirmieres et Assistantes Médico-Sociales.Soeur Marie d'Airoles ,

la fondatrice de l'organisation Catholique Française d'infirmières était un ouvrier principal en avant dans l'établissement de la nouvelle organisation internationale de CICIAMS. La premiers présidence et secrétariat de CICIAMS étaient estabished en France.

Puisque l'organisation a bientôt commencé à s'épanouir manière au delà des espérances originales de ses membres de fondateur des liens formels ont été établis avec Rome.
Dans 1947 CICIAMS est devenu un membre d'ICO la conférence Catholique internationale d'organisation.

Puisque 1947 CICIAMS sont également allés bien à un membre de, ou ont eu la représentation pour, au moins 9 autres organismes internationaux tels que l'OMS, l'UNESCO, l'UNICEF et l'OIT. CICIAMS tient une conférence internationale tous les 4 ans, accueillis par un pays membre, pour discuter le catholique/chrétien et l'éthique médicale et partager des idées et des expériences des catholiques nourrit dans un monde changeant.

Il y a maintenant plus de 60 pays membres divisés en 5 secrétariats régionaux :

1. L'Afrique - régions d'expression Anglaise

2. L'Afrique - régions de langue Française.

3. L'Asie

4. L'Amérique du Nord

5. L'Europe

CICIAMS collabore avec le Conseil pontifical pour des ouvriers de santé, le Conseil pontifical de la famille et le Conseil pontifical des Laïcs.

Notre conseiller ecclésiastique est père Joseph Joblin, sj de Révérend. Qui est basé chez le Pontificia Universita Gregoriana, Italie.

Nos objectifs sont :

· pour unir des infirmières de catholique en favorisant leurs qualifications techniques selon des principes chrétiens.

· à co-opérer au développement des soins et d'autres issues de médico-social.

· à être témoins des valeurs chrétiennes aux agences internationales.

· pour entreprendre tous les moyens possibles réalise ces objectifs.

Par ces objectifs CICIAMS exige des infirmières catholiques d'être vues pour s'associer ensemble à promouvoir un chrétien, approche morale au soin.

CICIAMS has been in existence since 1933, when ,after a meeting at Basel,Switzerland,1928 several Catholic Nurse Associations met again at Lourdes, France and members decided to create an international professional organisation for Catholic Nurses. The name CICIAMS is an anacronym formed of the intial letter of each word of the French description of the organization :Comite International Catholique des Infirmieres et Assistantes Medico-Sociales. Sr Marie d'Airoles, the founder of the French Catholic nurses organization was a prominent key worker in the setting up of the new CICIAMS international organization. The first presidency and secretariat of CICIAMS were estabished in France .

As the organization soon began to flourish way beyond the original expectations of its founder memembers formal links were established with Rome.In 1947 CICIAMS became a member of ICO The International Catholic Organization Conference .

Since 1947 CICIAMS has also become a member of , or had representation for, at least 9 other International Organisations such as WHO, UNESCO, UNICEF and ILO . CICIAMS holds an international conference every 4 years , hosted by a member country, to discuss Catholic/Christian and medical ethics and share ideas and experiences of Catholics nurses in a changing world.

There are now more than 60 member countries divided into 5 Regional Secretariats:

1.Africa - English speaking regions

2.Africa - French speaking regions.

3.Asia

4.North America

5.Europe

CICIAMS collaborates with the Pontifical Council for Health Care Workers, Pontifical Council of the Family and Pontifical Council of the Laity.

Our Ecclesiastical Adviser is Reverend Father Joseph Joblin,sj. Who is based at the Pontificia Universita Gregoriana, Italy.

Our Aims are:

· To unite Catholic Nurses in promoting their technical skills in accordance with Christian principles.

· To co-operate in the development of nursing and other medico-social issues.

· To be witnesses of Christian values in international agencies.

· To undertake all possible means to realise these aims.

Through these aims CICIAMS requires Catholic Nurses to be seen to join together in promoting a Christian , moral approach to care.
